Updates/Support🛠️
Find help with your SkyDeck settings, solve common problems, and get guidance on firmware updates.
Installing for the first time? Start with the QuickStart Guide for power, telemetry wiring, and your first checks.
Change your SkyDeck settings
Use setup mode while the aircraft is safely on the ground. Normal telemetry and display operation pause during setup.
- Power on SkyDeck and allow normal startup to finish.
- Hold BOOT for about 3 seconds. SkyDeck restarts into setup mode.
- On your phone or computer, join the PFD-Setup-XXXXXX Wi-Fi network shown on the display. Enter the password shown on the display.
- Stay connected if your device warns that this network has no internet. Open http://192.168.4.1 in your browser.
- Adjust the available settings, then choose Save & Restart. SkyDeck saves the settings, restarts, and turns its setup Wi-Fi off.
Hold BOOT after startup, rather than while powering on or resetting. If your firmware behaves differently, contact us with your firmware version, if known.
Troubleshoot a problem
The screen does not turn on
Disconnect power, then check the supplied harness, connector orientation, and polarity. Confirm the system receives regulated 5V and ground. Do not use a higher-voltage servo rail.
The screen is on, but flight data is missing or frozen
Check that the flight controller is powered, its UART TX connects to SkyDeck's telemetry RX, and both devices share ground. Confirm MAVLink telemetry is enabled on that same UART at 460800 baud. A working display alone does not confirm a working telemetry connection.
GPS or other readings are missing
Confirm that INAV receives the relevant sensor data first. GPS readings need valid GPS data, and some values require additional aircraft sensors. SkyDeck can only show the live information supplied to it.
My transmitter does not change pages
Check the page-selection channel in SkyDeck settings. Confirm that the channel moves in INAV's receiver view and that the flight controller sends it in MAVLink 2 RC_CHANNELS messages. Check your transmitter's channel range and assigned control positions.
I cannot open the settings page
Confirm that SkyDeck is in setup mode and your device remains connected to its displayed Wi-Fi network. Type http://192.168.4.1 directly into the browser address bar. Only one device can connect at a time; disconnect other devices if needed. If setup has timed out, enter setup mode again.
Firmware updates
Contact us for the appropriate update package and installation instructions. Include your display size and current firmware version, if known. Available features and update steps depend on your hardware and installed firmware.
- Standard: 2.0-inch display, 320 × 240 layout.
- Compact: 1.69-inch display, 280 × 240 layout.
Use only firmware confirmed for your specific hardware. Do not choose a file based on screen size alone or install one intended for the other display.
Before updating
- Record your current settings and firmware version, if available.
- Remove the propeller and follow the power and connection instructions supplied with the update.
- For a USB update, use a data-capable cable and maintain a stable connection throughout the upload.
After updating
Check the screen layout, saved settings, live telemetry, and all assigned transmitter controls on the bench before flying.
Technical reference
Power and telemetry
- Assembled system power: regulated 5V and GND through the supplied wiring.
- Telemetry direction: flight-controller UART TX to SkyDeck RX, with a shared ground.
- SkyDeck telemetry input: GPIO16, 460800 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
- Protocol: MAVLink telemetry. Transmitter-channel controls require MAVLink 2 RC_CHANNELS messages.
- Receive-only connection: no SkyDeck TX connection is needed for flight data.
The LCD's internal power connection is separate from the assembled system's 5V input. Follow the supplied harness labels; do not rewire the LCD or use its internal pin specifications as system power instructions.
Transmitter-channel assignments
On firmware offering these settings, page selection can use CH5 through CH10. Optional FLARE and MISSILE controls must use different channels from page selection and from each other when enabled. Check the assignments shown in your unit's settings instead of assuming a fixed channel.
The page selector uses eight channel pulse zones. A three-position switch may select only three of those zones; verify the pages reached by your transmitter setup. Exact page availability depends on firmware.
RC channel transmission settings can differ between INAV versions. Use guidance for your installed version rather than copying an unverified CLI command.
Setup-mode behavior
Setup mode allows one connected device. After approximately 10 minutes without a web request, the unit exits setup and restarts. After saving or leaving setup, reconnect to your normal Wi-Fi network if needed.
